Felting Workshop: Penguins

11 December | 10:30 – 13:30

Spend a winter's morning creating 2 or 3 of your very own unique needle-felted penguins, the perfect decoration for the festive season. Join Julie Higgins as she takes you through the wonderfully therapeutic and versatile craft in our Courtyard Café. Needle felting involves sculpting shapes and figures using wool and special felting needles.

Beginners will find that they can quickly master the technique - but be warned, it’s highly addictive!
Participants will be given extra suppliers to make another penguin at home. One penguin will be made during the workshop.

£40 per person | 10% off for Leonardslee members

Garden entry included | All materials included | Tea & Coffee will be provided throughout the workshop | Parking information

About Julie Higgins

“I definitely didn’t do craft! A VERY talented friend of mine who is into making & teaching miniatures, sewing & paper-crafting was determined to find a craft that I was going to be good at.

Eventually she did succeed by giving me a car washing up sponge, a cookie cutter, a lethal looking needle & some coloured sheep wool. After the first introduction, I was hooked! I have tried pretty much every type of process I could with wool.

I have been teaching classes for needle felting for 3 years, and it’s really rewarding & fun. And I find myself enjoying 2D portrait/picture wool painting, and have been taking commissions for the past 2 1/2 years.

Many family & friends have encouraged me to showcase what I can do for a while now. I have built up the confidence from people’s reactions to the art work & commission’s I have produced, and held an exhibition at Warnham nature reserve.

Please feel free to look me up on Instagram @juliehiggins_felter or contact me if your interested in having a picture commissioned for you or a loved one.”
