The Surrey Sculpture Society welcomes you to its third summer exhibition at Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens.
With its humble beginnings, the Surrey Sculpture Society has become one of the largest forces in sculpture. It has over 250 members spread across the South East of England and beyond, including both established professionals and talented emerging sculptors. In addition to promoting interaction between sculptors, the Surrey Sculpture Society organises exhibitions and encourages appreciation of sculpture.
Visitors will be able to discover diverse sculptures strategically located within this beautiful setting, as well as the abundance of wildlife at Leonardslee, including wallabies and a deer park.

Sculptors
Allan Mackenzie
“Humour and exaggerated drama bring his sculpture to life”
From his studio in Sussex, Allan creates sculpture in a range of mediums. His final pieces are a rich combination of smaller elements which, together, bring the overall work to life. Observing us as we go about our every day activities, Allan’s latest collection reflects on human expression. Humour and exaggerated drama bring his figures to life as they sit above the garden plants, keeping a watchful eye over all things that grow. Allan trained in graphic and commercial art, entering the world of sculpture full time after a career in construction. His work is exhibited throughout the UK from Devon to Lincolnshire including the Royal Horticultural Society, National Trust and The Cotswold Sculpture Park.
Greg Pearson
Greg Pearson is a an abstract artist based in the South East of England. He works in steel tube and sheet metal, hand bending the metal to realise shapes and forms which would otherwise be unachievable using more conventional methods. His playful work incorporates themes of colour, nature, minimalism and expressionism. Sculptures to brighten up any home or garden!Greg’s work is widely showcased but in recent years you may have seen his sculptures gracing everywhere from the Affordable Art Fair to winning gold in gardens at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
Nick Baker
“Somewhat on a whim, I taught myself how to weld and never looked back. I get curiously excited by the fact that you can just “magic” two pieces of metal together and suddenly you have something new and unique. Like many artists, I take inspiration from nature – the ultimate designer. Typically I find that flowers and plants give me scope to play with colour and scale, that said a dragonfly or two has also flown out of my studio over the years. When I’m looking for a change, I like to experiment with mixed materials – glass, copper, wood - and take a plunge into the abstract pond. Once here you can really feel free to play with shape and form. It sounds easy but getting it right can be like trying to catch a bubble – you’re nearly there and then “pooof” the image bursts and you’re left with a sculpture that only a mother could love. The trick here is to remember the bits that work and not dwell on those that don’t – have a beer, a good sleep and who knows what might happen tomorrow.
