Restaurant Interlude Opens Again Following Winter Break
Restaurant Interlude is fully open now
Restaurant Interlude is fully open now in February following a Christmas break for hard-working executive chef Jean Delport and his team. Guests can book dinner at Michelin Star Restaurant Interlude from Thursday to Sunday weekly, and now new luxury accommodation available all week.
“With the new luxury accommodation, guests can enjoy a wonderful experience, with dinner in the evening starting at around 6pm with cocktails in the bar, and the multi-course tasting menu. And then an overnight stay in the new accommodation that our guests just love,” says Jean Delport.
“The following morning, guests can go for a lovely walk through the Grade I Listed woodland gardens, see the impressive sculpture Park, with works by the artist Anton Smit, and then have tea - a marvelous classic English tea - when they return to Leonardslee House. Whether you are looking for a luxury staycation in Sussex, a romantic break, or a surprise getaway with a loved one, you will be delighted.”
“We have designed each dish at Restaurant Interlude in the seasonal, multi-course tasting menu with a hunter-gatherer theme of food that’s foraged, cultivated or raised on the estate - or locally, very close by. The ambience is of an intimate dining experience; a small, exclusive dinner party within the estate’s Italianate mansion,” says Jean.
The Magnolia Suite
An example of the luxury accommodation that awaits guests is the Magnolia Suite, designed by Lewis and Wood.
This exquisite spacious apartment is entered through one of the main arched doorways off the galleried landing and is designed with a range of Lewis and Wood wallpapers and fabrics and has stunning views of the grounds. It is the largest bedroom and the only suite created for our guests that features a separate sitting room with comfy seats, a television in each room, and a wine refrigerator.
With marble fireplaces, intricate cornicing, and window shutters, the room retains many of the original elements of Leonardslee House. There is a large built-in wardrobe as well as a dressing table.
The Calacatta marble lined bathroom from Catchpole and Rye is the epitome of luxury and comfort, with its statement freestanding nickel bath, antique chandelier, and traditional double vanity unit. Enjoy an uninterrupted soak in the roll top bath with a view of the gardens; relax in the sitting area with a nice book and a drink in hand; or cuddle up in the canopied super king bed after enjoying dinner at Restaurant Interlude.
The delicate wallpaper 'Bella' in the bedroom is one of four designs in the Lewis and Woods Voysey series, which is based on authentic sketches by Edwardian architect and textile designer C.F.A. Voysey and is hand printed in the UK with the V&A's permission.
The 'Indienne Tint' sitting room wallpaper is a lovely panel design painted by Parisian textile artist Serge Maury and inspired by 18th century chintzes from the Coromandel Coast in Southern India.
In contrast to mass production methods, Lewis and Wood emphasises originality, high quality, considered, and meticulously constructed design items. All of their fabrics and wallpapers are hand printed in the UK at their Stroud facility.
