Leonardslee Joins RHS Partner Scheme

Gardens from Somerset to Singapore have joined the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Partner Garden scheme for 2022, the world’s leading gardening charity announces today. The 11 new additions join a line-up of more than 200 RHS Partner Gardens who offer free entry to RHS members at selected times of the year.

RHS members will have free entry to the gardens from:

1 January 2022 - 28 February, 1 July 2022 - 28 September, 1 December 2022 - 31 December 2022

RHS members do not need to book to enter the gardens.

The updated list includes Grade I listed Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens in West Sussex: “famed for its ornamental rock garden and spring displays of rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias and magnolias, is certain to be a popular new attraction for RHS members”.

There are 207 gardens in the RHS Partner Gardens scheme for 2022, which allows RHS Members to visit non-RHS gardens for free at selected times of the year. They comprise some of the most famous gardens in the world as well as privately-owned hidden gems, and beyond the UK can be found in 9 countries across the globe, including Barbados, Japan and South Africa. Details of all RHS Partner Gardens can be found at www.rhs.org.uk/partnergardens.

The Royal Horticultural Society is the UK’s leading gardening charity. It aims to enrich everyone’s life through plants, and make the UK a greener and more beautiful place – it is committed to inspiring everyone to grow.

For more than two centuries the RHS has been the passionate force at the heart of horticulture, and today it inspires millions of people to get involved in gardening.

RHS FAQs

What is an RHS Partner Garden?

In addition to the five RHS Gardens, more than 200 independent gardens across the UK and overseas, generously support the charitable work of the RHS by offering our members free entry at selected times of the year, for which we thank them.

Many gardens allow free entry whenever they are open but, as they are forgoing their income in order to support horticulture and the RHS, not all are able to do this. RHS recommends that you check free entry dates and times carefully before travelling.

When visiting Partner Gardens, why not show your support by visiting their plant centres, shops and cafes, to support the great work they do in sustaining beautiful gardens for us all to enjoy.

Who can gain free entry?

  • All Individual RHS members

  • For Joint memberships, free entry applies to one cardholder per policy (member 1) as indicated by an asterisk (*) on the back of your membership card

  • For Joint Life memberships, free entry applies to both members

Please note:

  • Free entry to Partner Gardens does not apply to guests

  • Group entry: so that smaller gardens can be part of the scheme, free entry does not apply to members travelling as part of an organised group. Please contact the garden in advance to discuss group visits

How does the RHS choose RHS Partner Gardens?

Whether formal landscape, late-season borders or woodland, all Partner Gardens offer inspiration to keen gardeners through high standards of design and/or planting. Many are well known, some less so, resulting in a stimulating mix of styles that visitors should find interesting throughout the gardening year.
