We invite you to meet Johann Fourie, our head winemaker based at our sister estate Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate in South Africa.  

“Our brief is quite simple; to combine the best efforts of earth and man to produce beautiful wines.” Johann Fourie 

Johann’s passion and expertise for the wine industry is vast, from hand selecting vineyards to the technology involved in winemaking to judging on wine competition panels. His expertise will be instrumental in the process of creating the UK’s first Pinotage here at Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens, due to launch later this year, and our first English Sparkling Wine collection in conjunction with our sister Estate Mannings Heath Golf & Wine Estate due for release in 2024.  

Do not miss this unique opportunity to meet our winemakers and enhance your knowledge of winemaking and viticulture. Or just come along to enjoy samples of our award-winning Benguela Cove wines in our new Wine Garden located near our Courtyard Café with tasting notes and information from the man that made them.  

Johann’s philosophy is “To bridge the gap between the science and the artistry of making wine: that’s why I enjoy spending time with consumers, not just to share our story and passion for what we do, but also to get a deeper insight into their interest in wine, and to reflect that in every bottle we produce”
