The Get Well Spell at Leonardslee

3 September - 22 September | Opening hours

We are absolutely thrilled to be working with the amazing Hannah Peckham and her new book The Get Well Spell.

Grab your FREE activity book as you embark on the fun trail through our gardens and join Morris, a kind-hearted unicorn, who has discovered that true magic isn't always found in faraway spells but in the care, we take in ourselves.

As his cup is feeling rather empty, he's ventured here to Leonardslee all the way from Dragon's Ridge to fill his cup up once again through exciting adventures along the way.

Join Hannah Peckham for a Reading of Bronty's Battle Cry at 7pm. Reading of The Get Well Spell at 7:30pm on 24 August at Leonardslee Family Nights

The Get Well Spell

When Morris wakes one misty morning under the shadow of Dragon’s Ridge, the kind-hearted unicorn doesn’t feel well at all. As he sets out on a quest to find a fabled ‘Get Well Spell’, he discovers the need to fill his own cup back up so that he can continue to share love and kindness and look after others.

This tender and engaging rhyming tale of resilience and self-discovery from award-winning author and young persons’ counsellor Hannah Peckham will help children understand the importance of self-care and looking after their emotional well-being.

Available to purchase at reception and The Clocktower Kitchen (subject to availability)

About Hannah Peckham

Hannah Peckham is a counsellor, mother and children’s author who grew up in Sussex. Her passion is to write beautiful stories for all children to enjoy, and to embrace the learning opportunities they offer to deliver key social emotional lessons. Hannah believes that laying the foundations of good mental health early on can give children the gift of emotional literacy.

Hannah's book Conker the Chameleon has won multiple awards and is celebrated for its use of the zone of regulation within early years settings. Climb is endorsed by the lead author of Development Matters, the non-statutory government guidelines for early years settings, is Good Toy Guide recommended and was a finalist for the Progressive Preschool Awards. The sequel Conker and the Monkey Trap delivers a message about bravery and friendship, while Bronty’s Battle Cry is a heart warming dinosaur tale that helps normalise everyday worries and encourage kindness. Hannah’s latest book, The Get Well Spell, is all about Morris’s journey, and discovering the wonderful ways your little one can look after their well-being.

“As parents, we all want to protect our children from ever feeling emotional pain, but we can’t always stop difficult things from happening. What we can do though is provide them with skills and understanding so they can cope when challenging times occur, and that is what my books aim to do.”

Hannah delivers well-being workshops across Sussex to local schools, and can be contacted via instagram h.j.peckham for school visits.
